THE COLLECTOR (40 minutes) is an award-winning documentary about director Alice Elliott’s neighbor, Larry Selman, a community activist who has an intellectual disability. When Larry’s primary caregiver becomes unable to care for him, his New York City neighborhood rallies to protect his independence. THE APARTMENT (28 minutes), closer to home, is about a program that allows special-needs high school graduates to live independently. BILL’S BILL is a short history of special education in Vermont. Sponsored by Vermont Developmental Disability Council. NOTE: Free admission, but tickets required.
